12 Week Residential

Training any dog requires a lot of work, but when it comes to training a gundog, this is a whole different skill altogether.

Gundogs are trained to a higher standard although they do require the usual obedience skills like sit, heel, stay commands and environmental training. In addition, they require the whistle control, solid recall around distractions, steadiness, and ability to retrieving game.

This takes a lot of patience and hard work, the dedication I see many handlers putting in is amazing and can be incredibly satisfying to watch. But not everyone that takes on a Gundog to train and work has the time, patience or even the skill set to bring on a well-trained solid working dog. 

This is the reason many people turn to the Gundog Trainer for help. It’s true that structured training and specific techniques passed on by the trainer can bring about the desired results. But what if they don’t? What if your dog still needs more? Despite trying so hard, you still can’t find enough time to dedicate to the training. 

It ultimately becomes frustrating; the training slows down and you make very small steps forward. This can become demoralising, and you may find you are not allocating enough time to achieve the desired results. 

The 12-week Residential courses are designed to develop all the skills from foundational heel work to high quality whistle and directional control. I will build from the foundation up and create the dog that you want and need, whether you are looking for a solid beating companion or a patient picking up and peg dog. 

There is however a certain criterion we are following with the 12-week Residential Course.

· Dogs must be 6-8 months +

· Dog must be healthy and have working drive 

· Dogs must be outgoing and friendly 

· Dogs must be sociable with other dogs

· Dogs must have basic obedience 

· Dogs must NOT have any severe Behavioural issues (separation anxiety ect) 

· Dog must have come from working Gundog line 

· The aim must be for your dog to work either in Field or Trial

We offer a comprehensive package that encompasses all aspects of our training program. This includes two weeks of additional training, an initial assessment, convenient pick-up and drop-off services, and a dedicated training day upon completion of the program.
